Trolling or Cyber Bullying
In my opinion, I see trolling as a less serious method of "yanking someones chain" while cyber bullying is what is happening in the articles we are reading. When I hear the word trolling I think of someone just messing around yet cyber bullying makes me think someone is actually being harassed. Don't get me wrong trolling can be annoying but its all in good fun in video games and web forums but when it gets taken a step to far it can become very serious and I don't think many people know how to walk that thin line. I can't really explain why I have this specific opinion on the definition of trolling but I feel like there is a definite difference between the two.

I agree with this. When I think of trolling, I think about dumb memes. It also kind of reminds me of the relationship I have with my brother, and how we mess with each other. We don't mean any harm. But as for the Internet, there's a fine line between trolling and bullying, and sometimes the trolls take it a little too far and it gets kind of uncomfortable. But my question is: why would someone waste so much time on being a 'hater'? There's definitely some musicians I can't stand but I won't do social media for the sole purpose of hating on them. One of my friends draws celebrities to get more attention for her art but someone made a blog for specifically hating on those celebrities, and they stole her art in the process and it lead to a fight. As her friend, it was kind of hard watching her send me screenshots of her being bullied like that. But she was engaging the troll as she was defending herself and her art. Ultimately the troll was removed but came back with another blog with the same content.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any social media. So I'm kind of curious about all of this. It's freaky that one person can have so many accounts.
