Animals and Adrenaline
I think that much of our behavior and habits come from the food that we consume and the way it was processed, as well as the life that it lived before we ate it and where it came from. For this reason, I chose to write about whether or not the foods that we eat, (more specifically our meats) have an impact on our behavior and influences how we treat others as well as our energy levels and a host of other things. After thinking long and hard and considering different factors and possibilities, I came to the conclusion that if the meat that we ate was raised in better conditions before consumption, then the people eating it would most likely behave differently and most likely be happier. Many, if not all of us have seen videos of animals before being slaughtered, or the inside of processing factories and slaughterhouses, and we can clearly see the terror and fear in the animals faces. Before they are killed there must be millions of things going through their heads, and in their very last seconds before death, their brain releases adrenaline and different hormones into their muscle tissue that stays there after they are killed, and eventually is fed to consumers such as ourselves. Since we are consuming the meat itself, we are also consuming any "baggage" that it is carrying along with it, such as the adrenaline and any other hormones that the animal might have been carrying before it was killed. Of course it would be crazy to suggest that we should stop eating meat altogether, because that is a reach and altogether nearly impossible, but there has to be some sort of alternative route that we could take to ensure that animals are living happier lives before being consumed, not only because it is the humane thing to do, but because it is better for us as consumers in the long run.
